The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kelley scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kelley prevents Rogers from improving his position.

Kelley throwing shots but Rogers is blocking nicely.
Rogers is looking to improve his position.
Rogers is pressing down on Kelley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rogers stands up out of Kelley's guard for a moment - Kelley manages to land a nice upkick.
Kelley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kelley is really struggling to control Rogers but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Rogers trying to control but Kelley is working from the bottom.
Rogers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kelley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rogers defends well.
Kelley has Rogers pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rogers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kelley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kelley lands with a heel strike from the guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rogers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kelley gets caught napping as Rogers dives in and scores a takedown. Kelley manages to retain guard.
Rogers looking to sit in guard and control but Kelley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kelley really is a fat lump.
Kelley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kelley throwing strikes but missing.

Rogers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kelley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kelley wants to stand but Rogers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kelley drops back looking for a leg! Rogers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rogers manages to kick Kelley off! Kelley jumps back into Rogers's guard.
Rogers is trying to control the position but Kelley postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rogers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rogers is trying to hold Kelley in close to prevent damage but Kelley has managed to pass into half guard.
Kelley is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kelley decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Rogers throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Kelley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice strikes from Kelley there.
It looks like Kelley is going to stand back up.
Kelley looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Kelley dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kelley throws a head kick but Rogers moves out of range.

Rogers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers looking to sit in guard and control but Kelley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Rogers has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Kelley has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Kelley misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rogers.

Rogers gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rogers trying to control but Kelley is working from the bottom.
Rogers wants to stand but Kelley has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rogers trying to control the position from guard on top but Kelley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kelley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kelley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rogers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kelley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kelley wants to get up but he can't break Rogers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kelley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kelley postures up in Rogers's guard and throws a big left but Rogers blocks it.
Kelley wants to get up but he can't break Rogers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rogers controls Kelley momentarily but Kelley frees himself.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kelley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kelley closes the distance and clinches.
Kelley keeps control of Rogers as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Kelley gets control of Rogers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kelley will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kelley pushes a forearm under Rogers's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rogers is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
