The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight stays on the outside here - Ball looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ball moves in looking to clinch but Lizard pushes him off.

Ball feints and as Lizard raises his hands in defense, Ball changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lizard throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ball uses it to pass to side control.
Lizard is trying to control Ball's posture but Ball avoids it.
Lizard is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lizard is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ball off and has taken his back!
Lizard has Ball flattened out and is raining down punches.

Lizard is trying to stick to Ball's back but Ball is turning into Lizard. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lizard's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ball.

Ball tries to free his leg and advance position but Lizard is retaining full guard.
Ball keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lizard's head.
Lizard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ball manages to get himself to full guard.

Lizard is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lizard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ball is on top in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lizard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lizard lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ball is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ball is adopting a defensive guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lizard wants to control from the top but Ball keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Lizard dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A bone on bone clash there as Lizard blocks the leg kick.
Lizard connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Ball tried to score with a low kick but Lizard checks it.

Lizard scrambles and gets back to his feet.
No joy there for Lizard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lizard throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ball sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Ball rushes Lizard and presses him up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lizard fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Ball pulls guard successfully.
Lizard trying to control but Ball is working from the bottom.
Ball tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lizard passes Ball's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ball tries to kick Lizard off but Lizard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lizard is looking to take a break and control but Ball is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lizard in particular looking to stall.
Lizard is looking to advance position but Ball won't allow it.

Lizard lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ball wants to control but Lizard is keeping busy.
Lizard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ball keeps working.
Lizard misses with a head shot. Ball uses the momentum to regain guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Lizard trying to control the position from guard on top but Ball is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lizard leaves Ball with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jab, jab by Lizard - just one landing.

It looks like Leo Ball has been cut.

Lizard loads up on a big right hand but Ball slips the punch.
A slow jab from Lizard misses its intended target.
Lizard misses the shot to the body.
Lizard is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Ball shoots in for a double leg but Lizard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ball takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Lizard just misses with a punch to the body.

Lizard sends Ball crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Lizard is motioning to the referee to let Ball up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Ball is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ball circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Lizard. Ball falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Lizard!
