Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paulski McBeth (ranked 1005 p4p, 122 weight class) and Imperio Romano (ranked 1585 p4p, 184 weight class). Romano has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Imperio Romano!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBeth takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McBeth dodges the punch combination from Romano.
Romano scores with a hook to the body. McBeth takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
McBeth throws a left and a right that both miss
and Romano counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Romano checks a leg kick.
Romano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McBeth.
Romano throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McBeth missing with a left hand there. Romano was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Imperio Romano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McBeth connects with a leg kick. Romano looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Nice uppercut lands for Romano. That snapped McBeth's head back.

McBeth avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Romano throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Romano lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McBeth has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McBeth and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

McBeth is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Romano.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether McBeth might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Imperio Romano spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
