The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Whitfield moves into the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Nelson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Nelson tries a body shot but Whitfield blocks it.
Whitfield tries to pull guard but Nelson won't allow it.

Whitfield jumps guard and drags Nelson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Whitfield is pulling down on Nelson's head. It's preventing any offense from Nelson, at least for the moment.
Nelson wants to stand but Whitfield is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
