Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Halo (ranked 750 p4p, 101 weight class) and Paul Hunt (ranked 667 p4p, 90 weight class). Arthur Halo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur Halo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Hunt!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hunt, pushing him back against the cage.
Halo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Halo has Hunt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hunt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Halo tries to score a body lock takedown but Hunt shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Halo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arthur Halo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hunt lands an uppercut.
Hunt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Halo backwards.
Halo blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Halo drags the fight down to the ground.
Hunt throwing strikes but missing.
Hunt tries to free his leg and advance position but Halo is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt trying to control but Halo is working from the bottom.

Halo is looking for a sweep. Hunt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Halo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hunt scores with a couple of nice shots.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Halo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Hunt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Halo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hunt has managed to get both his arms back between Halo's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Halo tries to counter with a takedown but Hunt is quick to defend against it.
Hunt walks into a jab.
A punch lands to the side of Halo 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hunt throws a low kick, looking for Halo's leg but Halo calmly moves out of range.
Hunt throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Halo slips under a jab.
Hunt scores with a nice strike.
Halo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Halo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunt thows a left - swing and a miss!
Halo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hunt sprawls and moves away.
A clash of legs there as Hunt blocks the low kick.
Halo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hunt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hunt misses the shot to the body.

Halo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hunt to score with a decent uppercut.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hunt, right into the meat.
Hunt throws a right and a left that both miss.
Halo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hunt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Halo shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
It seemed like Hunt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Halo.

Hunt manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Halo trying to control from Hunt's half guard. Hunt has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hunt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Halo manages to get himself to full guard.


Halo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hunt defends well.
Hunt distracts Halo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Halo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hunt's guard.

Halo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hunt's guard.

Halo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hunt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Halo.
Hunt felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Halo is keen to just control but Hunt is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Halo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Halo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hunt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Halo, into his guard.


Halo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hunt is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Halo.
Check out the look on Hunt's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Paul Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Halo throws a leg kick
and Hunt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hunt throws a nice outside leg kick.
Halo swings widly with a right hand
letting Hunt counter with a right hand.
Halo avoids the body shot from Hunt.
Hunt looks to land a right hand but Halo moved out of range.
Halo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hunt is looking to land body kicks.
Halo takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hunt throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Halo attempts a counter takedown but Hunt avoids it well and moves away.

It seemed like Hunt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Halo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Halo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Arthur Halo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Halo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Halo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hunt has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Halo but great work by Hunt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well Hunt has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
