PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Siegel (ranked 5146 p4p, 356 weight class) and Noob Saibot (ranked 2751 p4p, 240 weight class). Siegel comes to the cage accompanied by Coolio ft. L.V - Gangsta's Paradise. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benjamin Siegel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Noob Saibot!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siegel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Saibot.
Siegel missing with a left hand there. Saibot was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Saibot sizes up Siegel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Noob Saibot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saibot looks to land a left hand but Siegel moved out of range nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Siegel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Siegel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Saibot moves away.
Siegel lands a jab to Saibot's midsection.
Saibot bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Siegel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
An inside leg kick lands from Siegel.
Siegel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Siegel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Saibot.
Saibot scores with a jab.

Oooh a lovely combination from Saibot sends Siegel down but not out. Saibot dives into side control looking to finish.


Siegel is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Saibot throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Oh Siegel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Saibot trying to control the action but Siegel is working from the bottom.
Saibot in side control lands a decent elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saibot tries to move to full mount but Siegel actually manages to regain half guard.
Siegel seems to have got his legs back now.
Saibot not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Saibot is trying to control the action in half guard but Siegel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Siegel is looking to improve his position.
Saibot trying to mount his opponent but Siegel defends it.
Siegel is looking to get back to is feet but Saibot passes into side control.
Saibot creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Siegel sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The referee asks Saibot politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Saibot prefers to stall for the moment though.

The ground and pound from Saibot seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Saibot has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Saibot cracks Siegel with a big elbow.

Siegel dodges the ground and pound from Saibot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saibot lands an elbow.
Sloppy strikes there by Saibot.
Saibot is working Siegel over with some ground and pound from side control.
Saibot trying to control the action but Siegel is working from the bottom.
Siegel is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Siegel pushes Saibot away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Saibot gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Siegel parries the strikes from Saibot easily there. Saibot is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Siegel to escape.

Saibot misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The ground and pound from Saibot seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Siegel struggling a bit here.
Saibot controls the position from side control.

Saibot wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Siegel, who protects the arm well.
Saibot fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Siegel regains half guard.
Saibot drops an elbow to the side of Siegel's head.
Saibot working Siegel over with strikes.
Saibot is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Saibot lands with a punch from half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Saibot in particular looking to stall.
Siegel is trying to stand back up but Saibot is controlling him
Saibot prevents Siegel from improving his position.
Saibot working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Siegel trying to control from the bottom.
Saibot is taking a breather. Siegel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Siegel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Saibot with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Noob Saibot dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Siegel throws a leg kick but Saibot moved away.
Noob Saibot seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Siegel avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Siegel connects with the punch.
Saibot connects with a single shot there.
Saibot tries to clinch up but Siegel circles away and keeps his distance.
Saibot drops Siegel with a big left hand! Siegel is injured, injured bad! Saibot jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Noob Saibot!
A very excited looking Noob Saibot made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
