Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bo Cephus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lei Makana!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Cephus as he connects with a hook.
Jab, jab by Cephus - just one landing.
Makana with a poor takedown

and Cephus counters by moving into the clinch.
Makana is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cephus scores with a shoulder strike.
Cephus definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A short left from Cephus.
Makana is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cephus is keeping busy.
Cephus lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cephus lands an uppercut.

Makana has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cephus uses from the top position.

Makana looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Makana is trying to keep Cephus in close.
Makana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cephus's guard.

Makana throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cephus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Makana prevents Cephus from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Makana gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Cephus dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Cephus has managed to clinch.
Cephus presses Makana against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Makana manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Cephus lands a left hand.
Makana wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cephus swings wildly with an uppercut but Makana uses good head movement to avoid it.
Makana has Cephus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cephus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A nice right hand lands inside from Cephus.
Makana takes a shot to the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Makana has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Cephus lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Cephus works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Cephus.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cephus gets underhooks to prevent Makana's takedown attempt.
Bo Cephus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lei Makana.
Cephus scores with a hook to the body.
Makana looks winded!

Makana works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Cephus is looking to stand back up but Makana counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cephus.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cephus is trying to stand.

Makana is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cephus sees it coming and defends easily.
Cephus wants to stand back up but Makana manages to pass into side control.
Makana tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Cephus tries to escape but Makana is in control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Makana in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Cephus is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lei Makana!
A very excited looking Lei Makana made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
