Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wladimir Yaroslev (ranked 1260 p4p, 54 weight class) and Zangief Smashterov (ranked 2282 p4p, 98 weight class). Yaroslev comes to the cage accompanied by Man with a Plan. Smashterov has chosen Rock you like a hurricane-by THE SCORPIONS as his entrance music. Wladimir Yaroslev had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Smashterov is predictable there

and Yaroslev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smashterov wants to sweep but no luck.
Yaroslev is fighting to break Smashterov's control of his arms but Smashterov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yaroslev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yaroslev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Yaroslev controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Yaroslev makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Yaroslev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

It looks like Zangief Smashterov has been cut.
Smashterov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yaroslev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smashterov wants to stand but Yaroslev is controlling the position.
Yaroslev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smashterov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Yaroslev throws a big right hand that misses.

Yaroslev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Yaroslev trying to control the position from guard on top but Smashterov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yaroslev engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Yaroslev works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Yaroslev is working for a kimura but Smashterov is defending it quite comfortably.
Yaroslev passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Smashterov!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yaroslev pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Yaroslev has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smashterov's face.

The cut above Zangief Smashterov's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Yaroslev is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Zangief Smashterov's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Zangief Smashterov's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
