PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yoki Mayoniko (ranked 1424 p4p, 181 weight class) and Lars Kenardly (ranked 2717 p4p, 291 weight class). Kenardly has chosen Strokin as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Yoki Mayoniko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lars Kenardly!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenardly fails to land with a series of punches.

Mayoniko closes the distance and clinches.
Mayoniko lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Kenardly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kenardly staying out of range there.
Mayoniko cracks a nice hook into Kenardly's ribs.
Mayoniko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kenardly swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lars Kenardly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Kenardly misses.
Kenardly keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kenardly jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A right-left combo lands from Kenardly.
Kenardly connects with a right hand. Mayoniko shakes it off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mayoniko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Good standup being displayed there by Mayoniko as he connects with a hook.
Mayoniko defending well as Kenardly loads up on a big left hand.
Kenardly throws a leg kick which misses Mayoniko's front leg but catches the back leg as Mayoniko tries to avoid it.
Kenardly ducks under a wild hook from Mayoniko.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Mayoniko, right into the meat.

Mayoniko thumps Kenardly with a low kick.
Mayoniko lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.


It looks like Lars Kenardly has been cut.
Kenardly has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mayoniko scores with a jab. Kenardly acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Kenardly throws a jab when Mayoniko was well out of range.
Mayoniko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kenardly jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kenardly on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Nice jab there from Kenardly.
Kenardly misses with a left hand
and Mayoniko counters with a nice leg kick.
Kenardly throws a jab when Mayoniko was well out of range.
A big right from Mayoniko misses.
Mayoniko bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kenardly's head backwards.
Mayoniko looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A swing and a miss from Mayoniko.
Mayoniko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kenardly.
A thudding body kick lands there by Mayoniko!
Kenardly misses with a left hand
and Mayoniko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mayoniko swings widly with a right hand
and Kenardly connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kenardly connects with a right hand. Mayoniko shakes it off.
Kenardly connects with a jab.
Mayoniko walks into a jab.
A head kick misses from Kenardly.
Kenardly's corner calls for a 1-2. Kenardly obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Good shot there by Kenardly.
Mayoniko misses the jab.
Mayoniko dodges the punch combination from Kenardly.
Mayoniko is looking to score with low kicks.
Kenardly appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mayoniko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kenardly throws the left hand but Mayoniko avoids the punch easily.
Mayoniko scores with a jab to the head.
Kenardly looks to throw the jab but Mayoniko is out of range.
Kenardly clobbers Mayoniko with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kenardly looks to land a left hand but Mayoniko moved out of range nicely.

Kenardly throws out a loose jab but Mayoniko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mayoniko is looking to counter punch.
Mayoniko pushes Kenardly away with a front kick.
Kenardly thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mayoniko displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kenardly throws out the jab.
Kenardly rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mayoniko counters with a nice body shot.
Kenardly misses with a low kick as Mayoniko jumps back.
Mayoniko wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kenardly is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mayoniko had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Kenardly throws an off balance right hand
letting Mayoniko counter with a right hand.
Kenardly paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Mayoniko scores with a nice right hand.
Good standup being displayed there by Kenardly as he connects with a hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kenardly lands a lovely overhand right.
Kenardly throws out a loose jab but Mayoniko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mayoniko throwing a counter right hand but Kenardly manages to avoid it.
Mayoniko tries to bum rush Kenardly with a series of wild strikes but Kenardly uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kenardly takes one on the button.
Kenardly blocks the body kick.
It seemed like Kenardly was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kenardly chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mayoniko can pounce on him.
Kenardly tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kenardly scores with the left hand. Mayoniko knows he should have avoided that one.
Mayoniko lands a really nice looking cross but Kenardly seems unphased.


Kenardly is rocked!

Mayoniko gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kenardly is still on wobbly legs! Can Mayoniko finish him?
Mayoniko dips a shoulder and cracks Kenardly with a mighty uppercut! Kenardly falls back against the cage and Mayoniko unloads with a barrage of strikes! Kenardly is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Mayoniko screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yoki Mayoniko!
Yoki Mayoniko seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
