Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blue Cup (ranked 2451 p4p, 269 weight class) and Cian Cartwright (ranked 2780 p4p, 297 weight class). Cartwright comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Engulfed by Darkness kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cup tries to sprawl but Cartwright drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Cup manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Cartwright keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Cup turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cup is looking to take a break and control but Cartwright is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cartwright wants to get back to his feet.
Cartwright tries to buck Cup off but Cup is having none of it.

Cartwright felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
