The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maeda closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cassel's guard.

Maeda drops back looking for a leg! Cassel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cassel manages to kick Maeda off! Maeda jumps back into Cassel's guard.

Maeda drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cassel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maeda has Cassel in his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maeda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cassel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maeda is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Cassel has his hands clasped together but Maeda extends and breaks Cassel's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Maeda.
