PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between CJ Johnson (ranked 3723 p4p, 392 weight class) and Shiba Inu (ranked 3688 p4p, 388 weight class). Johnson comes into the arena with Relentless - Slayer blaring out of the sound system. Inu has chosen Koi no Mega Lover as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, CJ Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shiba Inu!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Inu ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Shiba Inu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson connects with a high kick.
Inu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Johnson tries to clinch up but Inu circles away and keeps his distance.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Inu sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Johnson throws a lazy right hand but Inu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Inu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
CJ Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shiba Inu.
Inu staying out of range there.
A big left from Johnson misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Inu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.

Inu shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Inu showed some decent athleticism there.
Johnson is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Inu is working for a submission of some sort.
Johnson is looking to improve his position.

Inu seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Johnson has recovered full guard.
Johnson keeping full guard, as Inu tries to pass.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Inu won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Inu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Inu trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Inu's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Inu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Johnson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Inu closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Inu pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson digs a good hook to Inu's body.
Johnson cracks Inu with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Inu shoots in but no luck this time.
Johnson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Inu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Johnson.
Inu tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Inu looks winded!
Johnson stuffs the takedown.
Inu shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A little feinted left hand from Johnson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Inu shoots and misses
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
Johnson lands a head shot.
A jab lands there for Johnson.
Inu blocks a jab.
Inu steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
Inu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Johnson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Inu misses with a takedown attempt
and Johnson counters with a straight right hand.


Inu is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Inu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Johnson counters with a huge left! Inu is in big trouble! He's backing up but Johnson isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Inu from any more damage. A dominating finish by Johnson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). CJ Johnson!
CJ Johnson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
