PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jer Bear (ranked 3741 p4p, 334 weight class) and Optimus Prime (ranked 5495 p4p, 430 weight class). Bear comes to the cage accompanied by Good Times. Prime is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rich Boy - Boy Looka Here . On his way into the cage it seems that Jer Bear has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jer Bear seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jer Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 45 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Optimus Prime!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Prime's calf.
Prime misses with a lunging right hand

and Bear counters with a shoot takedown. Prime fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prime working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bear.
Bear postures up in Prime's guard and throws a big left but Prime blocks it.
Prime preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Bear throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Prime managing to control the position.
Bear's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Bear lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bear stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prime swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bear throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Prime works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bear working some strikes from top position.
Prime avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bear throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Bear drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bear jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bear decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Prime looks winded!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crunch! Bear slams his shin into Prime's torso.

Bear feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bear seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bear forces his way into half guard.
Bear working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Prime avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bear.

Bear stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Prime to get to his feet.
We've been told by Bear's head coaches at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bear thuds a left hand into Prime's body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bear lands with a nice combination. Prime backs away looking to recover.

Bear throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Prime was covering up waiting for the punch and Bear finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bear postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bear is working Prime over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Bear is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bear lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Bear stands up and waves to Prime to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bear feints a jab promting Prime to slip. Bear then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Prime slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bear shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Prime takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Bear sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Prime bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jer Bear!
During a confident post fight interview, Jer Bear thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
