PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Shifter (ranked 536 p4p, 82 weight class) and Donal Noye (ranked 894 p4p, 144 weight class). Shifter comes into the arena with Lützenkirchen- Nutcracker blaring out of the sound system. Noye has chosen Horse the Band - Cutsman as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noye throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shifter.
Noye fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Noye instigates a clinch.
Noye prevents the takedown attempt.
Shifter drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Noye looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Shifter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Noye is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shifter, into his guard.

Noye got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shifter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Noye has managed to get both his arms back between Shifter's legs - danger averted.
Shifter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Noye will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shifter up against the cage.
