Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Malenko (ranked 876 p4p, 92 weight class) and Akamu Kalani (ranked 1405 p4p, 142 weight class). Malenko comes to the cage accompanied by WCW NITRO ENTRANCE SONG. Kalani has chosen Astrix - Deep Jungle Walk as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Akamu Kalani!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malenko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Malenko is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kalani sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kalani throws a right hand that Malenko ducks under and follows up with a left that Malenko also avoids with ease.
Malenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kalani pinned against the cage. Kalani gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Malenko has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Kalani loads up on a big right hand but Malenko slips the punch.
Malenko takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kalani keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kalani's coach down at Animal FLEX Zone was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kalani's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Malenko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Dean Malenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kalani circles away.
Kalani slaps away a takedown attempt from Malenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kalani scores with a sloppy right hand. Malenko should have avoided that one.
Kalani displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Malenko.

and Kalani makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Malenko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kalani connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kalani connects with a body shot that sends Malenko's belly button to the back.
Malenko is breathing heavily.

Malenko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kalani defends it nicely.

Malenko is rocked!
Kalani slips a jab from Malenko.
Oh Malenko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Malenko tries to get into range but Kalani steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Malenko! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Kalani scores the big KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Akamu Kalani!
After the big win, Akamu Kalani made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors ZZ POPS and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
In defeat, Dean Malenko stepped up to the mic, saying 'The ref was paid off everyone seen the illegal chair shot.....ill be back!'.
