PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Bruise (ranked 2898 p4p, 140 weight class) and Carl Kingston (ranked 17910 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingston has chosen Creep - Radiohead as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Bruise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingston scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Dominick Bruise has been cut.
Bruise takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A lazy body kick from Kingston
and Bruise counters with a nice uppercut.
Bruise throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kingston counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bruise lands with an uppercut that bounces Kingston off the cage and back into range.
Kingston throws a body punch but Bruise moves out of range.
Kingston looks to score with a jab to the body but Bruise is just out of range.
Kingston lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

An inside leg kick from Bruise misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kingston! But no joy.
Bruise swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Bruise checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Bruise was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kingston moves out of range of the strikes.
Kingston thumps Bruise with a low kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kingston is looking to improve his position.
Kingston is controlling Bruise's trapped leg to prevent Bruise from advancing to side control.

Bruise content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kingston enables Bruise to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kingston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kingston feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bruises jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kingston throws a shot from downtown. Bruise moves away and avoids it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kingston lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bruise has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bruise and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

A little feinted left hand from Bruise on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Bruise goes for a double leg but Kingston avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kingston continues to drive forward.
Dominick Bruise has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kingston has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Bruise connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kingston's hands.

I would just about give that final round to Carl Kingston.
I've got Kingston winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
