The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hill drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hill wants to control but Rutten is keeping him busy.
We've been hearing that Hill has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Rutten is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Hill tries for a kimura but Rutten is defending well.

It looks like Sebastian Rutten has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hill is looking to take a break and control but Rutten is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hill scores with a couple of short elbows.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rutten wants to control but Hill postures up.
Hill advances to mount.
Rutten tries to reverse the position but Hill maintains control.
Hill cracks Rutten with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Hill is working for a guillotine from mount but Rutten frees his head quite easily.
