Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kel Hunsaker (ranked 3764 p4p, 152 weight class) and Ricardo Aricido (ranked 5140 p4p, 184 weight class). Ricardo Aricido has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kel Hunsaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ricardo Aricido!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Aricido.
Aricido slaps away a takedown attempt from Hunsaker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Aricido fails to land with a series of punches.
Hunsaker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Aricido scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hunsaker breaks the clinch.
Hunsaker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aricido pinned against the cage. Aricido gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aricido looks like he wants to counter punch here.
No luck for Hunsaker with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kel Hunsaker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunsaker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Aricido stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Aricido wants it to stay on the feet.
Aricido steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hunsaker is defended easily by Aricido.
Aricido shoots in looking for a takedown but Hunsaker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aricido's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Aricido misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Aricido throws a nice looking combination but Hunsaker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hunsaker fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Aricido to the ground. Hunsaker is now in Aricido's guard.
Hunsaker stays in close to Aricido's body and controls the position.
Hunsaker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Aricido is looking to stand up but Hunsaker isn't so interested in that idea.
Hunsaker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Aricido preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Aricido being controlled here, momentarily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Aricido fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hunsaker avoids it really well and circles away.
Aricido shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hunsaker as he jumps to the side.

Aricido changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hunsaker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hunsaker bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Aricido gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hunsaker to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Aricido pushes Hunsaker off and gets back to his feet.

Hunsaker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aricido is trying to defend but Hunsaker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hunsaker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hunsaker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aricido is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunsaker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hunsaker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Hunsaker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Aricido defends it well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kel Hunsaker will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hunsaker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Aricido is fending him off so far but Hunsaker persists. Nope, Aricido circles away and we're back to standing.

Hunsaker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Aricido.
Aricido fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hunsaker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hunsaker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aricido as he avoids it easily.
Aricido let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Hunsaker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aricido is trying to defend but Hunsaker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hunsaker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Aricido wants to get back to his feet.
We've been informed that Aricido has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Aricido really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hunsaker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hunsaker is taking a breather. Aricido says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hunsaker rushes Aricido and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Aricido tries to circle away but Hunsaker has him pinned against the cage.
Hunsaker is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Aricido gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hunsaker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hunsaker breaks the clinch.
Aricido throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hunsaker sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Aricido tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Hunsaker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunsaker stands and throws Aricido's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Aricido is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Hunsaker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hunsaker goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Aricido has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hunsaker but great work by Aricido.

Aricido stands up and beckons Hunsaker to his feet.
Kel Hunsaker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hunsaker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aricido tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hunsaker is in Aricido's guard.
Hunsaker controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Aricido utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hunsaker is pushing down on Aricido's leg trying to pass to half guard. Aricido is fighting to maintain full guard but Hunsaker has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hunsaker moves into full mount! Aricido won't be happy about that!
Hunsaker controlling his opponent.
Aricido's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hunsaker swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Aricido is now in Hunsaker's guard. A big mistake from Hunsaker there, giving up the dominant position!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aricido is looking to stand up but Hunsaker won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ricardo Aricido will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hunsaker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aricido circles away.
Hunsaker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hunsaker shoots in but Aricido avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Aricido thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hunsaker if he has to take too many more of those.

A head kick misses from Aricido.

Hunsaker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kel Hunsaker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hunsaker seems to be working for a kimura but Aricido defends the submission attempt.

Hunsaker wants to work for an arm triangle but Aricido is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aricido wants to get back to his feet.

Hunsaker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Aricido's half guard.
Well, if Hunsaker is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aricido is trying to stand.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kel Hunsaker.
I think Hunsaker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
