PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Cline (ranked 23206 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Lataj (ranked 5473 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alvin Cline!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Victor Lataj!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cline gets caught napping as Lataj dives in and scores a takedown. Cline manages to retain guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lataj accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lataj tries to free his leg and advance position but Cline is retaining full guard.
Lataj is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Cline could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lataj forces Cline back against the cage and clinches.

Lataj has picked Cline up - he's going for a ride! Lataj dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Cline wants to stand back up but Lataj manages to pass into side control.

Lataj has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Cline is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lataj has just dragged him back down to the mat.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lataj goes for an armbar but Cline turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Cline.

Cline might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lataj looking to sit in guard and control but Cline gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lataj has control of Cline's left arm, preventing Cline from doing any damage.

Cline avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cline wanted to stand there but Lataj had control of the position.

Lataj working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cline doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cline manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lataj is pulling down on Cline's head. It's preventing any offense from Cline, at least for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lataj is working an open guard so Cline takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Lataj.
Lataj goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Alvin Cline is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cline dives in for a single leg takedown but Lataj sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alvin Cline. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cline feints and as Lataj raises his hands in defense, Cline changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lataj has his feet on Cline's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Victor Lataj showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Well Lataj has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
