Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Gibson (ranked 1011 p4p, 130 weight class) and Max Ward (ranked 1999 p4p, 252 weight class). Gibson comes to the cage accompanied by Blac Youngsta - I Got You feat. Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd. Ward has chosen Spazz - Crush Kill Destroy as his entrance music. John Gibson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Gibson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Ward!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward shoots in for a takedown but Gibson shows good takedown defense.

Ward closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ward lands in his opponent's guard.
Ward is working Gibson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ward trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gibson looking for a sweep. Not yet Gibson, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ward working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Ward throwing strikes from guard but Gibson blocks nicely.
Ward is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gibson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ward wants to get back to his feet but Gibson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ward cracks Gibson with a solid left hand.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gibson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ward postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Ward lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gibson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ward makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Ward has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ward cracks Gibson with a solid left hand.

Gibson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ward is aware though and is defending well.

Gibson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ward defends well.
Gibson has momentary wrist control but Ward slips an elbow through the middle.

Ward is in close to Gibson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gibson has his foot on Ward's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ward works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like John Gibson has been cut.
Ward postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Oh Gibson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ward arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Gibson's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Max Ward!
A very excited looking Max Ward made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
