The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dimitrov sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Daniel Dimitrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cotton swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Dimitrov closes the distance and clinches.
Cotton blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Cotton misses with a body punch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Dimitrov.
Cotton is struggling to control the position.

Cotton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dimitrov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cotton was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Dimitrov throws a series of punches but Cotton avoids them all with ease.

Dimitrov scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Cotton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dimitrov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dimitrov misses with a wild combination.

Cotton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dimitrov quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cotton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dimitrov is looking to control Cotton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dimitrov avoid being mounted?
Cotton prevents Dimitrov from improving his position.
Dimitrov wants to get back to his feet.
Cotton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dimitrov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dimitrov told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Cotton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
