PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Lennon (ranked 634 p4p, 79 weight class) and Jacky Jackal (ranked 485 p4p, 60 weight class). Jackal is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Lennon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacky Jackal!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackal takes one to the side of the head.
Lennon throws an off balance right hand
and Jackal counters with a leg kick.
Jackal looks to land a combination but Lennon avoids it well.
Jackal lands with a right hand.
Jackal misses with an uppercut. Lennon saw that one coming.

Lennon moves into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jackal has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jackal lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lennon backwards.
A right hook to the body lands for Lennon.
Lennon lands an elbow just above Jackal 's eye.

Lennon stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Jackal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lennon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lennon throws a body punch but Jackal moves out of range.
Jackal takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

As Jackal tries to get set, Lennon tries to push him back and clinch up but Jackal manages to avoid the attempt.

Lennon waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Jackal. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Jackal to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Jackal is rocked!

Lennon gets to his feet - Jackal follows without any prompting.
Jackal is still on wobbly legs! Can Lennon finish him?
Lennon throws a leg kick but Jackal sees it coming and moves out of range.
John Lennon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lennon throws a right and a left that both miss.

Lennon moves into range and clinches up with Jackal.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lennon throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Jackal seems to have recovered his senses.

John Lennon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lennon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lennon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Lennon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jackal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jackal lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jackal throws a strike but Lennon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackal tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Jackal swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Lennon to counter with a crisp jab.

Lennon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jackal manages to avoid it.

Jackal has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Jackal has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Lennon.

Lennon tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jackal closes the distance looking for a takedown. Jackal picks Lennon up and slams him brutally to the floor. Lennon is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Jacky Jackal!
Jacky Jackal spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
