Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Irving Carney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antoine Pique!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pique tries to clinch but Carney moves out of range.
Pique fails with the takedown.

Carney darts in and clinches Pique up against the cage.
Pique is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carney to keep the fight standing.
Pique tries to pull guard but Carney forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Irving Carney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antoine Pique.
Carney lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Pique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pique tries to score a body lock takedown but Carney shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Pique jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carney walks away with a smile on his face. Pique gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Carney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carney clinches up against the cage.
Pique changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carney fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Pique fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carney avoids it really well and circles away.
Pique shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Carney counters by moving into the clinch.
Carney prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pique is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Pique looks winded!

Carney has Pique pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Carney pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pique tumbling to the mat - Carney dives into Pique's guard.
Carney lands a couple of elbows.

Pique working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carney.
Carney cracks Pique with a solid left hand.
Carney lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Carney will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carney chips away with some ground and pound.
Carney controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Carney throws a big right hand that misses.

Pique punching from the bottom - just letting Carney know he's still in a fight.
Carney controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Carney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carney lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Carney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Pique stuffs the takedown.
Carney misses with a takedown attempt - Pique sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pique fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Pique throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carney's waist but Carney gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pique off to one side.
Pique lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carney circles away quickly and effectively.
Carney drops down looking for a counter takedown but Pique sprawls and moves away.

Carney gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Carney has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pique clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Carney slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pique tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Irving Carney dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Carney gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Carney is trying to drag Pique to the mat but Pique just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Carney stalls.

Carney has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pique uses from the top position.

Carney has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pique throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Carney is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pique can do to turn this around?
Carney pulls Pique in to control the position.
Carney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Carney is working for a submission of some sort.

Well, if Carney is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Carney maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pique could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Carney has cracked it and Pique is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Carney!
