PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between EA Poe (ranked 3745 p4p, 379 weight class) and Brandon Stark (ranked 2042 p4p, 236 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Poe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Unleashing The Bloodthirsty by Cannibal Corpse. EA Poe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stark walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Poe checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Stark has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Stark throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Poe's waist but Poe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stark off to one side.

Stark tries to score a power double leg takedown but Poe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stark somewhat.

Stark escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Poe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stark has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Poe is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stark.

Poe takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Poe tests Stark's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Stark looks to land a combination but Poe avoids it well.
Stark needs to keep his hands up - Poe had a free shot at his head there.

Stark bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stark wants to lay and pray for a moment but Poe keeps working.
Poe holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
EA Poe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stark looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Poe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Stark got a little sloppy there for a moment and Poe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stark has managed to get both his arms back between Poe's legs - danger averted.
