Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Lynch (ranked 7408 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Ross (ranked 6958 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes into a darkened arena with his song building. jellyfish jam kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ben Lynch has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rick Ross!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross throws a head kick but Lynch moves out of range.

Ross closes the distance and clinches.
Ross gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Ben Lynch has been cut.
Ross blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ross tries for a takedown. No joy.
A hook to the body from Ross.

Ross tightens his grip and picks Lynch up, before dumping him to the ground. Lynch manages to land in guard.

Ross wants to stand but Lynch is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ross in particular looking to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ross throws a right and a left that Lynch avoids nicely.

Ross closes the distance and pushes Lynch back into the cage.

Ross has Lynch pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ross pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lynch tumbling to the mat - Ross dives into Lynch's guard.

Lynch wants to clinch up but Ross keeps it at a distance.

Lynch gets control of Ross's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lynch will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ross gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A slow jab from Lynch misses its intended target.
A little jabbing left from Ross on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Ross is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Lynch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lynch keeps the fight on the outside.

Ross rushes Lynch and presses him up against the cage.
Ross fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Lynch prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ben Lynch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Ross.

Ross tries to pull guard but Lynch forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ross throws a sloppy head kick and Lynch moves out of range easily.

Lynch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lynch lands in his opponent's guard.
Ross wants to get back to his feet but Lynch passes into half guard.

Ross wants to stand back up but Lynch manages to pass into side control.

Ross is looking to regain half guard here but Lynch keeps moving and retains side control.

Ross manages to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ross trying to hold on to Lynch's head to control him but Lynch postures up.
Lynch lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

A close second round but Rick Ross will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ross takes one to the side of the head.
Lynch moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Ross shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ross was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lynch is looking for a sweep.
Ross tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ross trying to control the position but Lynch is working away.
Lynch gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Lynch is refusing to be controlled, as Ross sits in half guard.

Lynch has his hands clasped together around Ross's back. He's all about the action.
Lynch is pressing down on Ross's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lynch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lynch wants to sweep here but Ross controlling him for the moment.
Ross wants to control from the top but Lynch keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ross looking to sit in guard and control but Lynch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Ross has his foot on Lynch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lynch works his way back into a safe position though.
Ross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lynch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ross utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ross kicks Lynch off and gets to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ross is defended easily by Lynch.
Lynch tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ross manages to circle out of the way.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lynch gets caught flat footed, as Ross shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Lynch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ross is aware though and is defending well.

Lynch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ross defends it easily.
Lynch keeping moving, preventing Ross from controlling successfully.

Ross sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ross would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lynch seems keen to control Ross's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lynch circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lynch swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lynch slaps away a takedown attempt from Ross, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lynch tries to counter by clinching up but Ross breaks away and moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rick Ross comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ross has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
