Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Grape Rita (ranked 8394 p4p, 570 weight class) and Milo Silva (ranked 24861 p4p, 584 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rita fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silva sprawls well initially but Rita persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Silva gets full guard.
Silva lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rita is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
Rita is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.
Silva wants to control from the top but Rita keeps moving.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Rita is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Rita's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rita has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Rita's legs - danger averted.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rita gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rita has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Silva regains guard immediately.
Rita wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.

Rita looks to land a strike but Silva avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Rita pulls Silva in to control the position.
Silva is pushing down on Rita's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rita is fighting to maintain full guard but Silva has managed to sneak the leg through.
Rita pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.

Rita has one foot on Silva's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rita is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
