PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Damien Alvarez (ranked 3503 p4p, 154 weight class) and Broseph Stalin (ranked 3611 p4p, 160 weight class). Alvarez comes to the cage accompanied by Big Pun: Off Wit His Head. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damien Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Broseph Stalin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez digs a good hook to Stalin's body.

Stalin has closed the distance and engaged Alvarez in a clinch.
Alvarez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A nice left hand lands by Stalin.
Alvarez jumps guard but Stalin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alvarez is trying to pull guard but Stalin has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damien Alvarez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stalin breaks from the clinch.
Stalin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Alvarez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nice defenses there by Alvarez.
Alvarez tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Stalin manages to circle out of the way.
Alvarez moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Stalin forces Alvarez back against the cage and clinches.
Alvarez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stalin pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alvarez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at 11th Planet Jiu Jitsu in the buildup to the fight.

It looks like Damien Alvarez has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alvarez defending well as Stalin loads up on a big left hand.
Alvarez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stalin doesn't seem bothered though.
Stalin missing with a left hand there. Alvarez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Stalin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Alvarez misses with a wild body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stalin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stalin throws a shot from downtown. Alvarez moves away and avoids it.
Alvarez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Stalin to score with a decent uppercut.
A cross from Alvarez lands.
The fighters circling - Stalin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Stalin rushes Alvarez and presses him up against the cage.
Alvarez is trying to pull guard but Stalin has him pressed against the cage.

Alvarez jumps guard but Stalin stands there with Alvarez around his waist. Alvarez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Stalin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Stalin bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Alvarez! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Alvarez is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stalin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Oh Alvarez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stalin weaves into range and cracks Alvarez right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Alvarez goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Stalin is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Broseph Stalin!
A relieved looking Broseph Stalin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Damien Alvarez had this to say: 'He was just better than me tonight. I'm gonna watch some film and analyze what went wrong. Props to him. I'll be back'.
