Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gideon Navarro (ranked 971 p4p, 118 weight class) and Steve Butabi (ranked 800 p4p, 101 weight class). Butabi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Make That Money. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gideon Navarro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steve Butabi!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Steve Erwin and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butabi looks for a takedown but Navarro sprawls well.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Butabi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Butabi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Navarro haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gideon Navarro will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Butabi.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Butabi, as that shot connected.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Butabi crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Navarro - the referee stops the clock and Butabi gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Navarro. Butabi manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Butabi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Navarro looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Navarro looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Navarro!
