PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Petersen (ranked 1473 p4p, 173 weight class) and Abraham Durden (ranked 1916 p4p, 211 weight class). Durden has chosen Pixies - Where is my Mind as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Don Petersen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Don Petersen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Don Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abraham Durden!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Durden blocks the leg kick.
Petersen cracks Durden with a right hand to the side of the head.
Durden comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Durden keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A low kick from Durden is predictable there

and Petersen counters with a takedown into side control.

Durden explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Petersen feinted with a counter takedown.
Durden fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Petersen manages to avoid it.
It looked like Petersen was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Petersen loads up on a big right hand but Durden slips the punch.
Petersen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Petersen throws the left hand but Durden avoids the punch easily.
Petersen looks to land a left hand but Durden moved out of range nicely.

Petersen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

We've been hearing that Petersen has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Durden is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Petersen presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Petersen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Durden fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Horrible takedown attempt by Petersen or perhaps it was just good defense by Durden, which made it look bad.

Petersen attempts a counter takedown but Durden avoids it well and moves away.

Petersen is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Durden tries to bum rush Petersen with a series of wild strikes but Petersen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Durden takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Durden loads up on a big right hand but Petersen slips the punch.
Durden throws a hook but Petersen avoids it easily.

Durden lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Well Durden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
