PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Enoch Malone (ranked 23186 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Swogger (ranked 4880 p4p, 0 weight class). Swogger has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Evan Swogger will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Enoch Malone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evan Swogger!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Enoch Malone has been cut.
Swogger looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Swogger avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A countering left hand to the body from Swogger misses.
Malone really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Swogger gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Malone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Malone gets to his feet. Swogger looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Malone tries to close the distance and clinch but Swogger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Malone has taken the fight to the clinch.
Malone tries to pull guard but Swogger won't allow it.
Malone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Swogger walks away with a smile on his face. Malone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Malone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Swogger as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Enoch Malone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Malone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Swogger.

Malone closes the distance and clinches.
Malone fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Malone is pushing Swogger up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Swogger tries to work over Malone's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Malone swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Malone is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Swogger to keep the fight standing.

Malone's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Malone tries to close the distance and clinch but Swogger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Swogger tries to sprawl but Malone drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Malone is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Swogger looks like he's trying to stand up.

Malone thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Swogger's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well, if Malone is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malone tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Enoch Malone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Swogger is breathing heavily.

Malone is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Swogger will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Malone seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Swogger for as long as he can get away with.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Malone is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Swogger defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Swogger wants to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
What can Swogger do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Swogger gets tackled into the cage by Malone. Malone maintains the clinch.
Malone is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Swogger to keep the fight standing.

Swogger appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Swogger swats away the attempt to clinch by Malone.
Malone tries to score a power double leg takedown but Swogger sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Malone somewhat.

Malone tries to pull guard but Swogger holds him up against the cage and eventually Malone drops back down to his feet.

Malone goes for a takedown attempt but Swogger pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Malone shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Swogger napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Malone decides to stand up, so the ref orders Swogger to his feet.

Swogger fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Evan Swogger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Malone darts in and clinches Swogger up against the cage.

Malone drags the fight down to the ground.
Swogger with a flurry of punches that miss.

Malone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Swogger defends well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Malone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Swogger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Evan Swogger.
I think Malone has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
