Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aron Ward (ranked 24730 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 6744 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aron Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Ward sprawling to the canvas. Rogers follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Ward hang on?
Rogers not doing much here.
Ward preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Ward wants to control but Rogers is keeping busy.
Ward tries to get to full guard but Rogers has control of the leg.
Ward slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Rogers stopping the sweep attempt from Ward.
Ward trying to keep a closed guard but Rogers is proving a slippery customer.
Ward tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rogers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ward wants to control but Rogers passes easily into half guard.
Ward is trying to control but can't.
Rogers stalling.
Rogers wants to stand but Ward has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ward is looking to control Rogers's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ward avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ward fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Rogers gets the takedown into side control.
Ward trying to remain calm as Rogers controls from the top position.

Ward tries to buck Rogers off but Rogers is having none of it.
Ward wants to control but Rogers postures up.
Ward is looking to reverse the position.

Ward tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rogers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rogers stands up and beckons Ward to his feet.

Ward closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rogers's guard.
Ward is breathing heavily.
Ward in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Ward gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rogers tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ward swivels and escapes.
Rogers tries to clinch but Ward moves out of range.
Rogers tries to bum rush Ward with a series of wild strikes but Ward uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rogers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A counter left hand to the body from Ward misses its target.
Rogers shoots in looking for a takedown but Ward manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rogers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ward scores with a head kick. Rogers tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Ward throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ward tests Rogers's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ward drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rogers pushes Ward off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Aron Ward's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rogers swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ward counters with a two punch combo.
Ward bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Ward drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Rogers has his feet on Ward's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Ward could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Aron Ward is winning the standup battle so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rogers fails to land with a series of punches.
Rogers works over Ward's head and body with a nice combination.
Ward lands with a kick to the temple. Rogers shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Ward closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rogers's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ward decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rogers, up you get!
Rogers shoots for a takedown but Ward saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ward tries to clinch there but Rogers circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rogers enables Ward to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rogers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rogers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Steve Rogers has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ward throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ward throwing strikes but missing.

Ward stands up and waves to Rogers to follow him.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rogers. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Ward lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rogers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rogers misses the shot to the body.

Ward scores with a takedown into Rogers's guard.
Ward throwing strikes from guard but Rogers blocks nicely.

Ward stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ward bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rogers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ward is controlling him well.

Ward tries for a kimura but Rogers is defending well.
Ward throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Ward swings around for an armbar but Rogers sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ward's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ward can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rogers controls the pace.
Rogers postures up and lands a big shot to Ward's brow.

Ward has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rogers has passed into side control.
Ward is looking for a sweep.
Rogers in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Ward manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Ward thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rogers's head.

Rogers makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Rogers lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Ward pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ward shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rogers's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Rogers manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rogers jumps guard but Ward turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ward turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Rogers explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
No joy there for Rogers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ward closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rogers quickly recovers to half guard.

Rogers pushes Ward off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ward feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rogers has his feet on Ward's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ward throws a right and a left that Rogers avoids nicely.
Rogers wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ward throws out a leg kick but Rogers moves out of range and Ward only half commits.
Rogers will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rogers misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rogers swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ward counters with a big head kick but Rogers shrugs it off.
Rogers takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Rogers darts in looking for a takedown but Ward gets double underhooks and turns Rogers into the cage.

Ward in side control, throwing shots but Rogers defends.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ward is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rogers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ward tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Ward goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rogers has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ward but great work by Rogers.

Rogers gets to mount! Ward was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Rogers lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ward hang on?
Rogers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ward wants to hold on but Rogers pushes him away.
Rogers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ward is looking to improve his position but Rogers isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ward wants to control but Rogers is having none of it.
Ward is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Ward is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rogers is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ward to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ward shrugs it off.

Steve Rogers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rogers winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
