Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murray Woods (ranked 23960 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cocaine Cowboy (ranked 6860 p4p, 0 weight class). Cocaine Cowboy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Murray Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cocaine Cowboy !
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cowboy is defended easily by Woods.
Woods tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cowboy manages to circle out of the way.

Woods fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cowboy sprawls well initially but Woods persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Woods stalling.
Woods tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cowboy controls his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Woods postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cowboy to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cowboy shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cowboy or perhaps it was just good defense by Woods, which made it look bad.
Murray Woods has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cocaine Cowboy .

Woods feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cowboy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Woods working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Woods decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cowboy has his takedown stuffed

and Woods counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Woods.
Cowboy looks winded!

Woods pulls guard successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Woods controlling Cowboy 's posture.
Woods could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Woods lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Woods stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cowboy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Woods circles away.
A counter left hand to the body from Woods misses its target.
Cowboy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Woods changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cowboy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cowboy bucks up and tries to throw Woods off but instead Woods has got his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cowboy is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Woods is cranking Cowboy 's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Cowboy ! He's tightened the choke and Cowboy is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Murray Woods!
