PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lew Rockwell (ranked 1946 p4p, 261 weight class) and Mujahid Jackson (ranked 2285 p4p, 302 weight class). Rockwell kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Like a Rock. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lew Rockwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mujahid Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rockwell.

Rockwell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.
Rockwell won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.

Jackson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jackson connects with a couple of short punches.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rockwell looking for a sweep. Not yet Rockwell, not yet.

Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Rockwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rockwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.
Jackson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Rockwell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.


Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rockwell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rockwell slips nicely into half guard.

Jackson is defending against the submission attempts here by Rockwell.

Rockwell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Rockwell eventually gives up the hold.

Rockwell drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson!

Jackson wants to control but Rockwell is keeping him busy.
Jackson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Rockwell is looking to reverse the position.

Rockwell is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rockwell is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rockwell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rockwell is working hard here to advance position.
Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rockwell is refusing to be controlled, as Jackson sits in half guard.

Rockwell with the active half guard here but Jackson passes nicely into side control.
Rockwell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jackson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Jackson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mujahid Jackson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jackson throws a leg kick

and Rockwell counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jackson!
Jackson tries to bench press Rockwell off him but Rockwell keeps the position.
Rockwell advances to mount.

Jackson somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Jackson lands a jab to the head.
Rockwell just misses with a punch to the body.
Jackson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rockwell.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
Jackson throws a body punch but Rockwell moves out of range.
Rockwell appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rockwell shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rockwell jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rockwell.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lew Rockwell. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rockwell.
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rockwell was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.

Rockwell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.
Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Rockwell advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jackson is trying to maintain the position but Rockwell is very close to passing his half guard.

Rockwell is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it.

Rockwell wants to work for an arm triangle but Jackson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jackson is looking for a sweep. Rockwell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jackson wants to stand back up but Rockwell manages to pass into side control.
Rockwell tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Rockwell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
Jackson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Rockwell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jackson is looking for a sweep.

Rockwell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jackson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jackson wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Rockwell seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Jackson is tapping! Wow, great finish!

After winning the bout, Lew Rockwell thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
