Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rex Rich (ranked 8342 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Builder (ranked 4308 p4p, 0 weight class). Rex Rich has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rex Rich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Builder!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rich is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Builder's half guard.
Builder looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rich lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rich wants to stand up but Builder is controlling the position.
Rich looks to land a strike but Builder avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rich throwing strikes but missing.
Rich throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rich wanted to stand there but Builder had control of the position.

Rich stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Rich dives in and scores a takedown into Builder's guard.

Rich is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rich drops back looking for a leg! Builder is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Builder manages to kick Rich off! Rich jumps back into Builder's guard.

Rich is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rich loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rich tries to stand but Builder is controlling from the bottom.
Rich keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Builder's head.
Rich wanted to stand there but Builder had control of the position.

Rich gets to his feet - Builder follows without any prompting.

Rich looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Rich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Builder doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rich.

Rich is nestled in close to Builder, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rich seems to be working for a kimura but Builder defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rich stands up from half guard.

Rich is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Builder's half guard.
Builder scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rich manages to mount him!
Builder looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rich is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Builder to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Builder shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Rich changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Builder looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Builder is not content to let Rich control the position.

Rich stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rich fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Builder sprawls well initially but Rich persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Builder scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rich manages to mount him!
Builder is breathing heavily.

Rich is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Rich is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Builder can do to turn this around?

Rich scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rich decides to stand up, so the ref orders Builder to his feet.

Rich throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Builder tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rich is in Builder's guard.
Builder is wriggling around but Rich manages to pass to half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rich is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Builder is trying to get back to full guard.

Rich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rich stands up out of the half guard.

Rich gets a double leg takedown into Builder's guard.
Builder is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rich dives into side control.

Rich is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Builder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Rich decides to stand back up.

Rich closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Builder did well to prevent Rich getting side control.

Rich seems to be working for a kimura but Builder defends the submission attempt.

Rich is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Builder takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rich is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Builder is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rich scores with a couple of nice shots.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rich lands a nice short elbow.

Rich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Builder doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rich.
Rich tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Builder.
Builder is looking for a sweep. Rich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rich closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Builder quickly recovers to half guard.
Builder tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Rich manages to move to mount!
Builder looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Rich is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rex Rich showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rich has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
