Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnathon Hood (ranked 5442 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Grissom (ranked 3510 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grissom throws a combination. Hood tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
No luck for Hood with that takedown attempt.

Grissom scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Grissom is keen to just control but Hood is a slippery customer.
Hood wants to control but Grissom is keeping busy.
Grissom perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grissom takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hood is looking for a sweep. Grissom is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Grissom is controlling the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Grissom shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hood's guard.
Grissom slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Grissom pushes down on Hood's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hood is trying to get back to full guard.
Grissom is looking to take a break and control but Hood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grissom is looking to advance position but Hood won't allow it.

Grissom is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hood has managed to free his arm - good work.
Grissom wants to pass the guard but Hood is defending well.

Grissom scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grissom is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grissom stands and steps away. Hood gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hood lands with a kick to the temple. Grissom shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Grissom closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Grissom passes to side control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Grissom wants to take a breather but Hood manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Grissom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hood shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Grissom defends it nicely.
Johnathon Hood is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hood gets in close and instigates a clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Grissom moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Hood! Grissom continues to tee off on Hood, landing with a left and a right! Grissom connects with a right hand that leaves Hood sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Grissom!
