Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wilburn Snyder (ranked 7260 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Aldino (ranked 5399 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilburn Snyder has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wilburn Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Aldino!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldino fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Snyder sprawls well initially but Aldino persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Snyder is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aldino pulls his head out easily.
Aldino lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Snyder actively working from the bottom here.
Snyder really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Aldino lands a nice short elbow.
Well, if Aldino is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Aldino moves nicely into side control.
Snyder is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aldino scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Snyder to see if he's OK.

Aldino tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aldino moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Aldino wants to stand but Snyder is controlling his arm.
Aldino in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Aldino lands a few punches from side control.
Aldino takes a little break here. Snyder wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Snyder wants to get back to his feet but Aldino is dominant here and he's now got Snyder's back!

Aldino is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Snyder defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Aldino has Snyder flattened out and is raining down punches.
Aldino is riding his opponent, not letting Snyder buck him off.
Aldino lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Aldino scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snyder is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Aldino.
Aldino keeps control of the position as Snyder tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Aldino dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Aldino throws out a leg kick but Snyder moves out of range and Aldino only half commits.

Snyder gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Aldino keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Snyder's head.
Aldino is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Snyder has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aldino can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Snyder can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Aldino controls the pace.
Aldino has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldino thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Aldino has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Snyder is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Snyder lands a head kick!

Aldino darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Aldino keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Snyder is trying to get back to full guard.

Aldino looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Aldino uses his free foot to push down on Snyder's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Snyder.
Joe Aldino has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee warns Snyder that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snyder is trying to stand.
Aldino controlling his opponent.
Aldino's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Aldino looking to isolate an arm here. Snyder doesn't see it coming and as Aldino extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Aldino!
