The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nielsen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nielsen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pasticcio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nielsen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nielsen throws a strike aimed at the side of Pasticcio's head but Pasticcio avoids it well.

Pasticcio is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nielsen connects with a decent elbow.

Nielsen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pasticcio sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Pasticcio gets tackled into the cage by Nielsen. Nielsen maintains the clinch.
Nielsen is trying to pull guard but Pasticcio turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Nielsen tries to break free but Pasticcio pushes him back against the cage.

Nielsen tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Still in the clinch, Pasticcio scores with a nice short uppercut.

Pasticcio struggles to land a body shot inside as Nielsen controls his hands.

Nielsen has had enough of the clinch but Pasticcio keeps him there for the moment.
Pasticcio gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nielsen.

Nielsen pulls guard.
Nielsen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pasticcio is one step ahead there.
Pasticcio wants to stand but Nielsen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Nielsen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Nielsen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nielsen is defended easily by Pasticcio.

Pasticcio smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Pasticcio lands a jab to Nielsen's midsection.
Nielsen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nielsen is breathing heavily.
Nielsen slips a straight right by Pasticcio.
Pasticcio throws a good cross that connects.
Pasticcio looks to land a left hand but Nielsen moved out of range nicely.

Pasticcio sends Nielsen crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Pasticcio is motioning to the referee to let Nielsen up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Birger Nielsen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pasticcio cracks Nielsen with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pasticcio has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Nielsen to stand back up!

Nielsen is rocked!

Jeez, Birger Nielsen's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Nielsen shoots in and drives through. Pasticcio sprawls well.
Pasticcio is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Nielsen flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Nielsen is out cold! Pasticcio holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
