PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Levi Roots (ranked 6040 p4p, 491 weight class) and Takeshi Kovacs (ranked 3938 p4p, 405 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Takeshi Kovacs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roots looks to land a left hand but Kovacs moved out of range nicely.
Roots rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Kovacs counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kovacs is trying to control the action in half guard but Roots is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kovacs seems to be working for a kimura but Roots defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kovacs wants to pass the guard but Roots is defending well.
Roots is trying to stand back up but Kovacs is controlling him

Kovacs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Roots doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kovacs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kovacs is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Roots is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
