Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklin James White Schmidt (ranked 4003 p4p, 153 weight class) and Jimbo Covert (ranked 3440 p4p, 128 weight class). Jimbo Covert will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklin James White Schmidt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimbo Covert!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt checks a leg kick.
Schmidt throws a lazy right hand but Covert sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Schmidt closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Schmidt gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Schmidt has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Schmidt takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Covert has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Schmidt missing with a left hand there. Covert was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Covert misses with an uppercut. Schmidt saw that one coming.
A little feinted left hand from Schmidt on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Covert uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schmidt.
Covert lands a nice shot that snaps Schmidt's head back.
Covert throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Schmidt on the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Covert gets tackled into the cage by Schmidt. Schmidt maintains the clinch.

Covert tries a body shot but Schmidt blocks it.
Schmidt lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Covert backwards.
Schmidt definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Nice body punch from Schmidt - that landed with a thud.
Covert jumps guard and drags Schmidt to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Covert looking for a guillotine here but Schmidt defends easily.
Covert working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schmidt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schmidt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Schmidt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Covert on the ground.
Covert is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schmidt is sitting in close to Covert's body. Covert has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Schmidt is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Schmidt is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Covert.
