Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Stewart (ranked 2959 p4p, 347 weight class) and James Steel (ranked 2485 p4p, 306 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Steel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel throws a right hand that Stewart ducks under and follows up with a left that Stewart also avoids with ease.
Stewart throws a jab but it's blocked by Steel.
Stewart pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Stewart swings for the body but Steel moves out of range.
Stewart throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Stewart has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Jitsu Jim in the buildup to the fight.
Stewart steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Steel.
Stewart's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steel connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Stewart scrambles back to his feet.
Stewart drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Stewart throws a predictable looking body shot
and Steel counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Steel cracks Stewart with a good jab.
Steel tries a head kick but it misses.
Steel throws a big shot that misses.
Steel connects with a solid leg kick.
Stewart just misses with a punch to the body.
Stewart throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stewart loads up on a big right hand but Steel slips the punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stewart lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Stewart is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Steel jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Stewart lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Stewart dodges the punch combination from Steel.
Steel checks a leg kick.
James Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stewart cracks Steel with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A nice inside leg kick there by Steel. That's going to slow Stewart down.
Stewart throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Steel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Stewart misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stewart misses with a leg kick
and Steel counters with a nice uppercut.
Steel misses with the combination.
Stewart blocks a jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stewart throws a jab but it's blocked by Steel.
Stewart lunges at Steel with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Steel's hand.
That kick from Stewart tenderised Steel's leg. Steel is trying to keep his angry face on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stewart closes the distance and clinches up with Steel, looking for a takedown. Stewart pushes Steel against the cage but Steel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Steel avoids the head kick by Stewart.
Steel scoring well with a low kick there.
Stewart lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Stewart thows a leg kick but Steel checks it

and Steel counters with a shoot takedown. Stewart fights it but they end up in guard.
Steel wants to control from the top but Stewart keeps moving.
Stewart is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Steel tries to roll over but Stewart keeps him under control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stewart lands a nice short elbow.

Stewart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Steel is just riding it out for now. Stewart eventually gives up the hold.
Steel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel trying to control but Stewart postures up.
Stewart frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Steel wants to try and get back to his feet.
Stewart scoring with strikes but Steel is staying in there.
Steel keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Stewart can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Steel is looking to escape.

Stewart has hold of Steel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Steel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Steel has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Steel squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Stewart wants to control the pace but Steel is squirming around nicely.
Steel in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Stewart trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Stewart is really struggling to control Steel but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Steel wants to hold on but Stewart pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Don Stewart will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Steel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stewart has a takedown stuffed.
Steel takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Steel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stewart manages to avoid it.
Stewart ducks right into an uppercut from Steel.
Steel staying out of range there.
Steel throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Stewart keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Steel wants to land a leg kick but Stewart is out of range.
Stewart throws out a loose jab but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stewart shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Stewart showed some decent athleticism there.

Stewart wants to pass the guard but Steel is keeping the position.

Steel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stewart trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.
Steel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steel won't allow Stewart to sweep him here.
Steel's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Steel looking to sit in guard and control but Stewart gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Steel looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stewart not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Stewart throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steel trying to keep a closed guard but Stewart is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Steel lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Steel lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Some wild striking there from Steel.

Stewart has closed the distance and engaged Steel in a clinch.
Steel prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Stewart. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel can't find room to land a body shot as Stewart controls the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Steel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Steel throws a solid leg kick but Stewart takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Steel.
Steel avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Stewart misses the shot to the body.

Stewart throws a shot from downtown. Steel moves away and avoids it.
Steel misses with a series of wild punches.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Steel lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Stewart has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Stewart and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Don Stewart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Steel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stewart's guard.

Stewart manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Steel manages to get himself to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Steel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A punch lands to the side of Steel 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Stewart moves in looking to clinch but Steel pushes him off.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stewart uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steel.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Don Stewart.
I think Stewart has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
