PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Omega (ranked 8297 p4p, 634 weight class) and Gavin Dice Em (ranked 23815 p4p, 640 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Omega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gavin Dice Em !
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omega wants to slow Dice Em down by chopping away at his legs.
The fighters circling - Omega throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Omega tries to clinch but Dice Em is having none of it.
Omega does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Omega wants to clinch.
Dice Em is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Dice Em closes this distance looking for a takedown but Omega circles away.

Omega moves into the clinch.
Omega lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Gavin Dice Em has been cut.
Omega tries to land knees in the clinch but Dice Em avoids the damage to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dice Em pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Omega tries to clinch but Dice Em moves out of range.
Chris Omega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dice Em scores with a nice body kick.

Dice Em shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Omega has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dice Em is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Omega desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Omega is refusing to be controlled, as Dice Em sits in half guard.
Omega tries to roll over but Dice Em keeps him under control.
Omega keeping control of the position.
Omega has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Omega is pressing down on Dice Em 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dice Em 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Omega is trying to keep Dice Em in close.
Omega is pulling down on Dice Em 's head. It's preventing any offense from Dice Em , at least for the moment.
Dice Em scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dice Em in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Omega is on top in guard.

Dice Em has his foot on Omega's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Omega works his way back into a safe position though.

Dice Em isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Omega stacks Dice Em on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Omega!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dice Em can do anything to dispel that myth.
You can see the frustration on Dice Em 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Omega is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dice Em 's shoulder. That is not cool.
Omega trying to control the action but Dice Em is working from the bottom.
Omega works to advance to full mount. Dice Em defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Dice Em is wriggling around trying to escape.
You get the feeling that Dice Em really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Omega wants to take his opponent's back but Dice Em doesn't allow it.
Dice Em can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omega controlling from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Omega dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Gavin Dice Em 's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dice Em fails with the takedown.
Dice Em circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dice Em keeps the fight on the outside.
Omega has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Omega there as he acknowledges the shot.

Dice Em takes the fight into the clinch.
Dice Em changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Omega fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Omega as Dice Em shoots in.
Omega looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Chris Omega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gavin Dice Em .

Omega rushes Dice Em and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omega tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dice Em avoids it.

Dice Em shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Omega's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chris Omega will probably get the nod.

Dice Em is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Omega sees it coming and defends easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gavin Dice Em seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Dice Em decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Omega's guard.
Gavin Dice Em has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Omega is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I would just about give that final round to Gavin Dice Em .
