Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shannon Chille (ranked 2226 p4p, 234 weight class) and Cliff Rigano (ranked 1974 p4p, 215 weight class). Chille comes to the cage accompanied by Ms. Fortune. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Cliff Rigano!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rigano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chille.
Chille throws a hook to the side of Rigano's head but Rigano sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Chille clinches with his opponent.
Rigano drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chille pulls his leg out and moves away.
Chille fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rigano with a lazy takedown attempt
and Chille counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Chille clinches up against the cage.
Rigano has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Chille is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Shannon Chille has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cliff Rigano.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chille is on top in guard.

Rigano has his foot on Chille's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chille works his way back into a safe position though.

Rigano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chille gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chille has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rigano is proving hard to escape from.
Rigano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chille doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chille manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rigano is looking to improve his position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Chille throws an elbow but it misses.

Chille gets through Rigano's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Chille manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Chille using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rigano has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rigano jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Chille works the jab nicely.
Rigano bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Chille doesn't manage to clinch there - Rigano circles away.

Chille closes the distance and pushes Rigano back into the cage.
Rigano drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chille gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Rigano escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Chille cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rigano shoots in looking for a takedown. Chille tries to sprawl out of it but Rigano keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chille manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rigano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chille swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shannon Chille overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rigano wants to control from the top but Chille keeps moving.
Rigano lands a couple of elbows.
Cliff Rigano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chille controls Rigano momentarily but Rigano frees himself.
Chille is looking to stand up but Rigano isn't so interested in that idea.

Shannon Chille is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chille wants to improve his position but Rigano is controlling well.
Chille trying to hold on to Rigano's head to control him but Rigano postures up.
Rigano is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chille is just riding it out for now. Rigano eventually gives up the hold.

Chille is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rigano is controlling him well.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chille, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
