The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Afridi lands with a nice body kick.
Bushido shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Afridi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bushido tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Afridi has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Abraham's Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Bushido shoots in but Afridi avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bushido goes for a double leg but Afridi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Afridi continues to drive forward.
Khatir Afridi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of General Bushido.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bushido is working for an americana but Afridi has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Bushido was thinking about the submission.

Afridi has his foot on Bushido's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bushido works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bushido shoots in looking for a takedown but Afridi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bushido's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bushido steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Afridi. That one must have hurt.

Afridi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bushido pulls his head out easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bushido content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Afridi has locked up a guillotine! Afridi's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Bushido is holding on here and Afridi must be using up a lot of energy. Bushido has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Afridi gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
