Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brendon Wheeler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James McSweeny!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McSweeny has taken the fight to the clinch.

McSweeny turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The ground and pound from McSweeny seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Wheeler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

It looks like McSweeny might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

McSweeny manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wheeler to take his back!

McSweeny is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Wheeler knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Wheeler for a finish.
McSweeny just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
You can see the frustration on Wheeler's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McSweeny is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McSweeny holds on and takes a little breather.

McSweeny has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wheeler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McSweeny pulls Wheeler in close to prevent any damage.

McSweeny has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Wheeler has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The referee asks McSweeny politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McSweeny prefers to stall for the moment though.

McSweeny is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wheeler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McSweeny wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wheeler keeps working.

Well McSweeny has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
