Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Collier (ranked 5876 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasily Boyko (ranked 5669 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasily Boyko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nelson Collier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vasily Boyko!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boyko looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Collier pushes Boyko off and gets back to his feet.

Boyko shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Collier has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Boyko is on him like a limpet, forcing Collier back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Collier jumps guard and drags Boyko to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Boyko trying to control but Collier is working from the bottom.
Collier tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Collier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Boyko trying to control the position from guard on top but Collier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Collier is pulling down on Boyko's head. It's preventing any offense from Boyko, at least for the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Collier has momentary wrist control but Boyko slips an elbow through the middle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Collier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boyko is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boyko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Collier gets tackled into the cage by Boyko. Boyko maintains the clinch.

Boyko looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Boyko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Collier takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Collier throws a low kick, looking for Boyko's leg but Boyko calmly moves out of range.

Boyko moves into the clinch.
Boyko avoids the elbow strike from Collier, against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Collier fails to land.

Boyko manages to break the clinch.
Vasily Boyko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boyko throws a right hand that Collier ducks under and follows up with a left that Collier also avoids with ease.
Collier fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Collier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vasily Boyko will probably get the nod.

Collier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boyko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Collier moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Boyko misses with a series of wild punches.
Boyko misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Collier.
Boyko throws a nice looking combination but Collier bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Collier wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boyko looks to land a combination but Collier avoids it well.
Collier is looking to counter the offense by Boyko and move into the clinch.
Boyko throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Nelson Collier has been cut.
Collier throws a head kick that misses.

Boyko feints and as Collier raises his hands in defense, Boyko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Collier wriggles free and stands up.

Collier wants to clinch up but Boyko keeps it at a distance.

With the fighters up against the cage, Collier throws an elbow but misses.
Collier tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Boyko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Boyko is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Collier is trying to control Boyko's posture but Boyko avoids it.

Boyko stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Boyko tries to score with a low kick but Collier moves his leg out of the way.

Nelson Collier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boyko keeps the fight on the outside.
As Collier backs off Boyko throws a huge counter combo but Collier manages to avoid it all.

We've been informed that Boyko has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Boyko throws a nice outside leg kick.

Boyko drives through with a takedown into Collier's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Collier manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Boyko moves into the clinch successfully.
Boyko blocks the elbow strike.

Boyko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Collier avoids a punch combination nicely.

Collier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boyko tries to avoid it but Collier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boyko to the ground. Boyko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Boyko drives through and clinches with Collier against the cage.

Boyko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Collier tries to sprawl but Boyko drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Collier is doing well to control the position and prevent Boyko from advancing to side control.
Boyko not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Collier is pressing down on Boyko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boyko is looking to pass into half guard but Collier pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Collier is in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vasily Boyko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Collier.

Boyko wants to control from the top but Collier keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boyko drives through with a takedown into guard.
Collier seems keen to control Boyko's posture.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boyko postures up.
Boyko in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Boyko trying to control the position from guard on top but Collier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boyko is in close to Collier's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Boyko is looking to work some ground and pound but Collier has wrist control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Collier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boyko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Collier is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boyko wants to get back to full guard.

Collier is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Boyko defends it well.
Vasily Boyko is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Collier is keen to just control but Boyko is a slippery customer.
Collier thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boyko's head.
Boyko looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boyko is trying is best to control the position here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nelson Collier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
