Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ty Cole (ranked 5387 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter Marinho (ranked 24786 p4p, 616 weight class). Ty Cole has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ty Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Walter Marinho!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marinho with the counter takedown but Cole avoids it easily.
Cole is looking to land body kicks.
Marinho feints the counter takedown.

Cole drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cole controlling from the top position.
Marinho tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cole not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Marinho wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cole is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cole landing with the ground and pound.
Marinho not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

A lull in the action here.

Cole looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Marinho tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cole wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Marinho dodges the ground and pound from Cole.
Cole slows the pace down.
Marinho is looking for a sweep.
Cole lands a nice forearm strike.
Cole staying calm.
Cole creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Marinho sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ty Cole dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Marinho shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cole manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Marinho wants to pass the guard but Cole is keeping the position.
Cole is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cole is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cole is on top in guard.

Marinho wants to hit a switch here but Cole passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Marinho there!

Cole is landing with some decent strikes but Marinho is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Cole has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
BOOM! Cole connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Cole is landing with some decent strikes but Marinho is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Cole tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Cole lands a big shot there that rocks Marinho but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Marinho is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cole cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
BOOM! Cole connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Cole is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Marinho can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Marinho wants to control but Cole is having none of it.
Marinho is looking to improve his position but Cole isn't that keen on the idea.
Marinho in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Marinho regains half guard.
Cole working the head and body with strikes.
Cole slows the pace down in half guard.

Cole looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Marinho on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cole is thwarting Marinho's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ty Cole dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Cole throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Marinho was covering up waiting for the punch and Cole finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cole slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cole has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Cole working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Cole finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Cole throws an overhand right that lands on Marinho's shoulder, as Marinho tries to avoid the shot.

Marinho drives through with a takedown into Cole's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Cole manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Marinho manages to get himself to full guard.

Cole stays in close to Marinho's body and controls the position.
Cole's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cole postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cole stands up over Marinho, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Marinho looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ty Cole is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Marinho is trying to keep Cole in close.
Cole is working Marinho over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cole is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Walter Marinho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cole lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cole.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Marinho gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ty Cole showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cole, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
