Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ike Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dametu Cosita!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cosita looks for a takedown but Carlson sprawls well.
Carlson attempts a counter takedown but Cosita avoids it well and moves away.
Carlson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A punch combination from Cosita misses.
Carlson is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cosita.
Cosita tries to clinch there but Carlson circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

and Carlson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Cosita tries to clinch there but Carlson circles away.
Cosita tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

It seemed like Cosita was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Carlson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cosita.
Carlson stuffs the takedown attempt from Cosita. Cosita gets slowly back to his feet.

and Carlson moves into the clinch.

Carlson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Carlson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Cosita wants to control but Carlson is keeping busy.
Still in half guard, Carlson seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carlson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Carlson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cosita on the ground.

Carlson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The fighters are battling for position here. Cosita manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Carlson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cosita is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carlson won't allow Cosita to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Carlson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cosita for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dametu Cosita seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cosita tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cosita shoots and misses

and Carlson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carlson.

Carlson pulls Cosita into guard.
Carlson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Carlson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carlson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cosita manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carlson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Carlson continues to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cosita avoids the body shot from Carlson.
Cosita shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carlson but Carlson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A combination from Cosita does no damage.
Carlson is looking for a counter combo.
Carlson leaves Cosita with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cosita shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carlson pinned against the cage. Carlson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Carlson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Carlson.

Carlson decides to stand back up. Carlson steps back and let's Cosita get back to his feet.

Cosita dives in and grabs Carlson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carlson pushes down on Cosita's head and hops out.
Carlson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Cosita closes the distance looking to clinch
and Carlson counters with a three punch combo that has Cosita backing up. Cosita nods at Carlson to acknowledge the strikes.
