Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Borics is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Velez's half guard.
Borics seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Borics is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Borics is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Borics with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Borics lands strikes from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velez is not content to let Borics control the position.
Borics controlling the action here.

Velez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Velez is holding on to half guard well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Borics in particular looking to stall.
Velez controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Borics wants to stand up but Velez has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Velez wants to control but Borics is keeping busy.
Borics is pressing down on Velez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Velez is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Velez tries to roll over but Borics keeps him under control.
Borics with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Borics's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Velez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Borics shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Borics is controlling the pace.
Borics is nestled in close to Velez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Borics is keen to just control but Velez is a slippery customer.
Borics not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Borics tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Borics has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Velez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Velez wants to get back to full guard but Borics has passed into side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Borics tries to stand but Velez is controlling his head.
Velez is looking to reverse the position.
Velez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Borics taking a breather here.
Velez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Velez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The referee warns Velez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Borics takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Velez tries to hold on but Borics postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Borics dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Borics dodges the punch combination from Velez.

Velez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Borics to the ground. Velez is now in Borics's guard.
Velez looking to sit in guard and control but Borics gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Adam Borics has got the better of the ground game so far.
Borics is stalling in the full guard.
More stalling from Borics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velez controls Borics momentarily but Borics frees himself.
Velez is striking off his back. Borics thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Borics controlling the pace.
Velez wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Velez trying to hold on to Borics's head to control him but Borics postures up.
Velez is in trouble now - Borics has advanced to mount!
Borics trying to control but Velez is having none of it.
Borics controlling the position easily from mount.
Velez is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Borics avoids the attempt from Velez to control.
Borics raining down hammerfists from mount.
Borics lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Borics controlling his opponent.
Borics postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Velez looks a forlorn figure.


Velez is rocked!

Borics connects with a bit shot that sees Velez covering up! More strikes from Borics and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Borics is our winner by TKO!
