Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steel Penn (ranked 3197 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 2720 p4p, 0 weight class). Po has chosen Advanced Training as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Steel Penn could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tong Po 's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Po darts in and clinches Penn up against the cage.

Penn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Po tries to clinch up.

Po closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Po misses with a body punch.
Po keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Penn's efforts to push away.
Po tries a body shot but Penn blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn has had enough of the clinch but Po keeps him there for the moment.
Po effectively controlling the action here.
Penn avoids the elbow strike from Po , against the cage.

Penn blocking some punches.
Po lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Penn is trying to push Po away but Po has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Penn is trying to force a seperation but Po has the dominant position.

Po tries a knee to the head but Penn blocks it.

Penn is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Po just misses with a elbow thrown towards Penn's brow.

Penn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Penn swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Po clinches up against the cage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Po just leaning against Penn, taking a breather.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Tong Po dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Penn tries to keep at a distance but Po has taken the fight into the clinch.
Po can't find room to land a body shot as Penn controls the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Po misses with a jab, cross combination.
Penn feinted with a counter takedown.
Po tries to clinch up but Penn circles away and keeps his distance.
Penn was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Tong Po is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Po tries to counter with a clinch but Penn shakes him off and moves away.

Oooooh!!! Po has knocked Penn down with a huge combo! Po steps away and waves a wobbly Penn back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Penn moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Penn blocks a head kick by Po .
Po throws a body shot but no joy.
Po tries to clinch up.
An attempted straight right counter from Penn misses the target.
A left lands for Penn.


It looks like Tong Po has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Po throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Po tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Penn attempts a counter takedown but Po avoids it well and moves away.

Po moves into the clinch.

Po tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Penn avoiding damage as Po throws knees to the body.
Penn on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Penn has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Po has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Po in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Penn does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Penn drops down looking for a counter takedown but Po sprawls and moves away.
Tong Po seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Po clinches up with Penn and pushes him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A left hand lands to the body for Po .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tong Po showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

It looked like Penn wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Tong Po seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Po takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Po misses with an elbow over the top.
Penn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Steel Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Penn tries to break the clinch but Po is controlling the position.

Tong Po seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Po misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Penn.

A frustrated look appears on Penn's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tong Po is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tong Po comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Po has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
