Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harold Zoid (ranked 1862 p4p, 77 weight class) and Shane MacGowan (ranked 155 p4p, 7 weight class). MacGowan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Pogues - Streams of Whiskey kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacGowan goes for a double leg but Zoid avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zoid continues to drive forward.
Zoid swings for the body but MacGowan moves out of range.
MacGowan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Zoid swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Nice takedown defense from Zoid. No joy for MacGowan on that attempt.
Harold Zoid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane MacGowan.
Zoid throws a shot from downtown. MacGowan moves away and avoids it.
MacGowan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Zoid.
Zoid throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Zoid has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from MacGowan finds it's way round the side to connect with Zoid's head.

MacGowan shoots for a double leg takedown but Zoid sprawls well. He's pushed MacGowan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

MacGowan has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
MacGowan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zoid pinned against the cage. Zoid gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Zoid feints and then cracks MacGowan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow MacGowan down.

Zoid throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zoid tries to clinch up but MacGowan circles away and keeps his distance.

and MacGowan counters with a series of strikes. Zoid will be more careful next time no doubt.
Zoid fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. MacGowan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Zoid displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from MacGowan.

MacGowan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

MacGowan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zoid is fending him off so far but MacGowan persists. Nope, Zoid circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Harold Zoid is winning the standup battle so far.
MacGowan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Zoid sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten MacGowan somewhat.

MacGowan goes for a double leg but Zoid avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zoid continues to drive forward.
Horrible takedown attempt by MacGowan or perhaps it was just good defense by Zoid, which made it look bad.

Zoid is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that MacGowan can do to turn this around?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. MacGowan connects with a nice short shot to Zoid's temple.

Zoid manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

MacGowan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zoid's waist but Zoid gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing MacGowan off to one side.
MacGowan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Zoid can pounce on him.
Zoid scores with a head kick. MacGowan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zoid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. MacGowan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
MacGowan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Zoid lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as MacGowan crumples to the floor! Zoid milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Harold Zoid was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
